The 6th International Conference of Asian Union of Magnetics Societies (IcAUMS 2023)

International Conference of Asian Union of Magnetics Societies (IcAUMS) is a routine conference every 2 years held by Asian Union of Magnetics Societies (AUMS) together with Indonesian Magnetics Society (IMS). The year 2023 was the 6th IcAUMS which was held in Bali on August 14-16, 2023. IcAUMS2023 was held with several activities, namely oral presentations, and posters, invited discussions and symposia, tutorial sessions, and exhibitions featuring the latest advances in the field of magnetism, magnetic materials, and their applications. This event successfully gathered 7 countries from various countries in Asia with more than 100 abstracts in the field of magnetism and magnetic materials.

On this occasion, one of the UGM Physics Doctoral Program students, Deska Lismawenning Puspitarum, participated through an oral presentation to present her research results entitled “Construction and Mechanisms of a Recyclable Green-Synthesized CoFe2O4/TiO2 Nanocomposites Photocatalyst for Degradation of Organic Pollutant“. Recycling efficiency, rapid separation, and excellent catalytic ability of photocatalyst materials after photocatalytic process are considered as the main requirements. Green synthesis of CoFe2O4/TiO2 nanocomposites using Moringa oleifera leaf extract showed excellent photocatalytic and reuse performance under UV irradiation. Synthesis of nanocomposites based on green synthesis approach is considered as an eco-friendly and cost-effective method to fabricate nanocomposites compared to other conventional methods. Various techniques were used to characterize the properties of CoFe2O4/TiO2 nanocomposites before and after the photocatalytic process, such as UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-Ray Fluorescence, scanning electron microscope – energy dispersive X-ray, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and vibration sample magnetometer. The hysteresis curve shows that the CoFe2O4/TiO2 nanocomposite has soft ferromagnetic properties. From the results of this study, it is concluded that the CoFe2O4/TiO2 nanocomposite synthesized using the green synthesis approach shows excellent catalytic performance and is expected to provide a new platform for efficient photocatalytic applications.
